I usually find time to make a birthday card for family members, often by hand. Sometimes I make one a bit more polished and have it printed. I had some fun exploring lettering and texture, with a limited palette, in this one for my 'big sis' Carmen last April.
This past June my wife and I were married (!), but before that, we sent a 'save-the-date' to our modest guest list. These were printed at 4x5 and had a magnetic strip applied to the back. We also customized all the ceremony and reception material (signs/favours/itinerary etc), which I'll share in a later post.
This was for an article on virtual reality! I had free reign over direction, so I put together a composition that would be dynamic and clearly convey a user's immersion into an alien environment. Simple concept, lots of fun to render. I've included the original rough drawing, as well as the linework before adding colour and texture. Published in the June issue of Alberta Venture.
